ABOUT SOFE
SOFE is a friendraising initiative, showcasing the diverse talents and interests of the Friends School community and making connections between families while raising funds for special projects that benefit our students. Generous families and community members have volunteered to host a variety of fantastic events—social, educational, even nautical. All you have to do is pick your favorite and sign up. Hurry, space is limited! (But don’t worry—we’re adding new events weekly.)

Philosophy Round Table

Is your brain soft from too much Wii? Join an intellectual circle for a stimulating philosophical discussion over coffee and snacks. Topic to be finalized with input from attendees.

Parenting Seminar—for Parents of 5th - 8th Graders
Wednesday, Feb. 25
Why Won't They Just Do What They're Told? You, Your Tween & a Changing World
Perplexed by the transition? Find out the most important things your tween wants and needs from you. You'll learn that it is possible to have a great relationship with your child and begin to see new ways of thinking about your role as a parent. Includes Q&A and home practice skills.

Karaoke Lounge at the Sharps

Bring your hipster self to our swanky karaoke lounge for cocktails, tantalizing appetizers and groovy tunes courtesy of your fellow Friends School parents. No singing expertise necessary or preferred and no heckling allowed. Be prepared to dance, laugh, sing and have fun.

Hollywood Dog Tricks

Your furry superstars will amaze you as they learn to stick ‘em up, balance a treat on their nose, wave goodbye…and other applause-worthy tricks. Package includes a commemorative photo for the fan club.

Sunset Cocktail Cruise

Take a spirit-filled cruise to one of NC’s uninhabited islands that will make you feel like Richard Branson on Necker Island.

Your Own Personal Parent Trainer

Enjoy an evening of real-time, interactive parenting advice specific to your unique issues. Learn new strategies to deal with your children on topics such as discipline, sibling rivalry, self-esteem, communication and more.

Beer Brewing 101

Family Photo Beach Party
One Lovely Saturday in May TBD
Beach house party! We will begin with a late afternoon photo session on the beach with one of your hosts followed by food, drinks and surf play. There are rumors that the margarita machine may make a repeat performance! Package includes a keeper photo CD.

JUNE

Dad & Kid Masonboro Camping Trip
Saturday, Date TBD with attendees (& weather)
Celebrate the end of school by taking your kid(s) camping. Enjoy a boat ride and beach play, followed by wieners, s’mores and ghost tales. All you need is camping gear…and a kid. Lifejackets available by request.
